Cedar, stone and steel — an outdoor space built to last and look good doing it.
The starting point on this project was an original stone garden wall at the rear of the plot — the kind of feature that most projects would hide or demolish. We kept it, and made it the backdrop. The anthracite steel pergola frame and cedar horizontal screening panels work with the texture of the stone, not against it. The result is a space that feels grounded and considered, not dropped in.
The slatted cedar roof lets light filter through during the day and the structure glows at night when the uplighting comes on. The garden lighting scheme — ground-level spots in the lawn, wall-mounted uplighters on the fencing — means the space reads beautifully from the house after dark. The illuminated evening shot tells that story better than any description can.
Composite decking runs underfoot, with outdoor dining and lounge seating arranged under the pergola. A cedar storage unit sits to the right, housing all the outdoor essentials out of sight. The whole structure was completed in 4 weeks — groundwork, decking, steelwork, cedar and electrics all done by our own team.
