Illuminated Pergola & Feature Wall

An outdoor room that works in all weathers.

The goal here was a proper outdoor living space — not just a patio, but somewhere with enclosure, atmosphere and usability through the Irish autumn. The structure is anchored by an anthracite louvred aluminium pergola with adjustable roof slats: open them for sun, close them for rain. Underneath, you're dry and sheltered regardless of what's happening overhead.

The cedar cladding feature walls on either side are the detail that makes this space feel like a room. Vertical western red cedar boards run floor to ceiling, with wall-mounted spotlights recessed into the timber at intervals — at night the walls glow and the space completely transforms. The composite decking underfoot ties the palette together with the anthracite pergola frame.

The fire pit table at the centre of the seating area extends the evening season well into autumn. It's a space designed to be lived in — and from the look of it, it is.
