Black Timber Garden Room & Garden

Bold cladding, considered planting, one cohesive garden.

The brief here was simple: a garden room that looks like it belongs. The client had admired a lot of cedar-clad rooms but wanted something with more contrast against their pale stone patio — so we went black. Black painted timber cladding with a matte finish.

The bifold doors open the full width of the front elevation, which means on a summer evening the room and garden become one space. We designed the planting around the structure — Japanese maples in raised beds on either side create a framing effect that photographs beautifully and matures well in Dublin's climate.

Full insulation, heating and electrics were included as standard. The room is used as a home office during the week and a cinema room at weekends — a dual-purpose space that earns its keep every day.
