Horizontal slatted cedar fencing has become our most requested fencing style — and it's easy to see why. Compared to a standard closeboard fence, the horizontal orientation feels more intentional, more architectural. It reads as a design decision rather than a boundary.

This project combined the fencing with composite decking — the two materials are a natural pairing. Both are low-maintenance, both have a contemporary feel, and the warm cedar tone works beautifully against the charcoal composite boards.

We set all posts in concrete to ensure the fence stays plumb for decades, not years. A matching cedar gate was included on the side return, giving access to the front garden without disrupting the visual line. Completed in four days, including decking.
